Seoul becomes an extension of your classroom as you explore Korea's rich culture and sights while attending psychology classes with Orange Coast College Psychology professor, Dr. Hannah Kang. Experience dynamic courses led by OCC faculty, enhanced by visits and lectures that bring the city’s architectural wonders to life. Discover Italy’s historical and cultural landmarks—monuments, museums, and galleries—as Rome itself becomes an extension of your classroom. Students will live in shared student apartments, with double or triple rooms. The AIFS Rome Study Center offers dedicated support and guidance, ensuring an unforgettable and enriching study abroad experience.

The Summer Psychology in Seoul Program is open to students who are at least 18 years of age at the time of application. Program space is limited. Students should complete the online application with the $250 non-refundable first payment as soon as possible. Upon receipt of your application and first payment, Coast Community College District and Accent will provide you with additional application and enrollment forms. Applications must be received by March 26, 2026. Beyond March 26, limited enrollment is allowed when space permits.
Cultural learning is an integral part of the Summer in Seoul Program. Participants attend on-site lectures at museums and historical sites within and outside of Madrid. Included in the program are a guided tour of Madrid, a Flamenco dance class, a cooking class, weekly themed dinners and a one-day trip to Segovia, including coach transport, guided visit to the main fortress, and entries. Excursions are chosen based on the academic curriculum and are subject to change.
The Summer Psychology in Madrid Program is offered for transferable college credit through Orange Coast College, part of the Coast Community College District. The Coast Community College District will provide a transcript upon request for the coursework completed overseas. Please verify the transferability of courses with your advisor or registrar before you apply.
Psychology A110 – Psychology of Adjustment
This course examines the psychological concepts and principles that underlie personal and social adjustment to the changes in our lives, with particular attention paid to healthy adjustment and the minimization of harmful stress. Theories and research pertaining to personality and adjustment will be explored, and you will be invited to reflect on and describe your experiences abroad using your newly acquired knowledge. 3 semester units.
Psychology A190 – Cross-Cultural Psychology
This course explores fundamental theories and research in psychology that help us to better understand our experiences when we come into continuous firsthand contact with people from cultural backgrounds different from our own. By studying these concepts and dynamics of cross-cultural interactions – and experiencing the interactions on a daily basis while studying abroad – you will become better equipped to contribute to a global community in your work and personal life. 3 semester units.
Guided sightseeing tour of Seoul.
A full-day excursion to the DMZ including transportation, guided visits to the Gamaksan Bridge, the Third Tunnel and the Dora Observatory.
A guided tour of Gyeongbokgung Palace.
A full-day excursion to a traditional Korean Village including transportation, guided tour and craft demonstrations.
A Korean cooking class.
A 2-day, 1-night excursion to Busan, including transportation by train, a hotel with breakfast basis and a guided walking tour.
One-time airport transfer from Seoul (ICN) airport to accommodation and return on program arrival and end dates.
Accommodation in a student residence in single or double studio rooms with small kitchen and laundry facilities. Bed linens, towels & Wi-Fi provided.
Meals: self-catering facilities at student accommodation, a welcome event, a farewell dinner, and occasional meals on excursions.
Travel pass: a smart card pre-loaded with funds valid for travel on all trains, trams, subways and buses in the Seoul metropolitan area.
Support services, medical insurance, 24-hour emergency contact service, travel arrangements, and student advisors provided by AIFS.
Dr. Hannah Kang is the chair and an associate professor in the Department of Psychology. Dr. Kang's active projects include research on fear of crime, including a Fulbright-funded project on perceptions of public safety by residents of Trinidad and Tobago; the influence of risk-taking perceptions on daily activities, such as how we spend and save money; and the role of unpredictability in our evaluation of entertainment, such as music.
